My Top 7 Upleveling Takeaways

December 12, 2018

Upleveling is about getting to the next level of where you want to be, whether it’s in your career, your relationships, or overall life. It’s about GROWTH. It’s about getting unstuck. It’s about releasing old BS to make way for the new and improved!

In my own experience with upleveling, I’ve learned a TON about what led to it, and so I want to share my biggest takeaways that you can apply to get from one stage to the next.

1. Treat other professionals the way you want to be treated.

The ol’ golden rule applies here! And it’s incredibly important. Whatever you put out into the universe, including how you treat people, is what you’ll get back. If you give respect, you will receive it.

2. Get clear! Setting clear desires is essential.

Tell me...how are you supposed to get where you want to go if you don’t know what you truly want?

Consider your desires almost like a business plan. It’s an ever-evolving working document.  The more action you take, the clearer the picture around your desires get. At the same time, be open to new ideas, because sometimes people, circumstances and events enter into our lives to open us up to the magic of the universe and all that it has to offer. Sometimes what you want will change when you have these new experiences.

When I do my meditating, I always set the intention of “I desire this or something even greater than this” because I don’t want to create so many rules that I actually put myself into a state of resistance that would block me from receiving what is meant for me.

2. Listen to feedback, but discern when it’s actually time for a course correction.

Listen to feedback! But with this exception…if you don’t like how the person giving you feedback and/or advice lives their life or manages their career, then I would be VERY leery about applying their feedback. Think of the paradigm they’re living in and how they view the world. Do you really wanna take advice from them?

Seek advice and feedback from experts, mentors and people who have the career you desire or the lifestyle you crave. If you find yourself continuously bumping your head against a brick wall and getting nowhere fast, perhaps it’s time for a course correction. Did you know that pilots are course correcting constantly, 90% of the time? Maybe you need to think about that, too.

3. Set strong deadlines.

Deadlines are important to keep you on track and to keep you in action, but they’re also important to keep you accountable to your truest desires. By holding yourself accountable to your desires, you are impressing your thoughts and will on Source to help you co-create.

4. Delegate, delegate, delegate.

Ask yourself, “Who else can do this?” Doing so does two things:

  • Gets you to see how many things you do each day that take up so much of your time that someone else can do. Someone who is actually faster and better equipped to do it! Something that takes you hours, weeks or months to do can actually take someone else half the time.

  • Second, it clearly shows you the things that only you can do. Those are the activities that I invite you to focus on.

5. Self-care.

Making time for yourself is a non-negotiable. Saying you don’t have time for yourself is not acceptable. You can’t pour from an empty cup!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been raised to believe that it’s right and noble to put others’ needs before yours, but what I’ve learned is that it’s absolute BULLSHIT! Even flight attendants tell you to put your mask on first before assisting others.

6. Always continue to invest in yourself.

Investing in yourself will always give you a HUGE ROI. Your best bet is to always bet on yourself first! When you invest in YOU, you get returns.

Wealthy people look at spending money on themselves as investments. It’s true. They ask themselves, what is my ROI going to be?

On the other hand, poor people tend to look at spending money on themselves as an expense or a liability. “That’s too expensive” is usually their rationale. “One day, when I have more money then I’ll do it.”

7. No matter what, always follow your own North Star.

Taking advice and feedback from others can be a very valuable resource, but at the end of the day, you must have faith, trust and believe in your intuition, or your own “North Star.” Think about all the people who have bucked the status quo to go on to do amazing things in their careers and lives. Trust yourself first and foremost.

There’s something else I want you to know, so here’s a bonus!

Grow, evolve and shed.

No matter where you are in your career, maintain a growth mindset. Allow yourself to evolve into the person who follows their true soul’s calling, otherwise known as “your purpose.”

Shed what no longer serves you. Maybe it’s a job, or a relationship or a limiting belief that loops in your mind like a broken record. If it’s keeping you playing “small” and causing you to feel stuck, it’s time to release it.

Your next uplevel is inevitable. I believe in you!!

Much love,

Keenah
